Elephantiasis anguish in Ghana
Fergus Walsh, Health Correspondent from BBC News at 10, reports from Ghana on 'The disease lymphatic filariasis, known as elephantiasis, continues to cause misery in Africa despite medical advances' (November 2006).

BBC World commissioned a series entitled "Kill or Cure" through Rockhopper Productions in 2004. Lymphatic filariasis was featured providing an overview of the Global Programme and included filming in Ghana and Egypt. Available in English, copies can be obtained from the Global Alliance Secretariat.

GlaxoSmithKline financed the production of three films aimed at raising awareness of one of the world's most neglected diseases.
  • Launching The Fight Back (duration 3 mins 53 secs) reports on the early stages of the global effort to make a future without LF;
  • The Patient's Perspective (duration 10 mins 32 secs) brings first hand evidence of the effects of LF on those who suffer, and reports on the early stages of the global effort to make a future without LF;
  • The Patient's Perspective (duration 4 mins 30 secs) is the short version of the above film.

The films are available in VHS (PAL, SECAM and NTSC) and CD format from:
